How do volunteers impact SHH? " Volunteers at Second Harvest Heartland impact the organization by sorting and distributing food, aiding in meal preparation, supporting warehouse operations, engaging in advocacy, fundraising, community outreach, and educational programs. We truly could not do our work without our volunteers."
Why do you love working for Second Harvest? "I love working at Second Harvest Heartland because of the alignment of my personal values with their mission of ending hunger together. This alignment creates a supportive and positive community, while the opportunity to innovate and develop creative solutions to hunger-related challenges makes every day fulfilling."
How does the development team help support the mission and work of SHH? "The development team at Second Harvest Heartland plays a critical role in securing the resources necessary to support our mission of ending hunger together. Our work involves fundraising, donor relations, corporate partnerships, grant writing, community engagement, and various other strategies to ensure SHH has the means to carry out our hunger relief programs."
A few of the many behind the scenes roles of the development team include fundraising, grant writing and reporting, donor relations, events and campaigns, data and analytics, and so much more! The development team is an integral part of Second Harvest's successes. Their dedication and hard work ensures that SHH is able to fulfill its mission of alleviating hunger and improving the lives of those it serves.
