Volunteer Engagement Partnerships VISTA (MAVA)
Join one of the nation's largest hunger relief organizations in cultivating community partnerships and creating innovative programming for our Second Harvest Heartland (SHH) volunteer engagement team!
What you'll do:
As an Americorps VISTA, you are vital to creating capacity for our volunteer engagement team. Second Harvest Heartland engages over 9,000 volunteers annually through food repacking shifts, program support roles, and pro bono projects. We're looking to take our top-notch volunteer program to the next level.
Your main focus will be:
- Enhancing our community partnerships, outreach and recruitment to better reflect the communities we serve
- Evaluating our current volunteer appreciation approach and creating an equitable and sustainable recognition initiative for our volunteer partners
This position relies on strong collaboration with our DEI, development, and agency partners teams.

What you're committing to:
- Completing a year of national service through AmeriCorps - Ideally October 2022-September 2023, dates flexible for the right candidate
- Allocating 40-hour/week of work to Second Harvest Heartland (2-3 hours/week dedicated to mentoring and personal professional development)
- Bringing a mindset of listening, learning, and growth to your work
- Providing reliable transportation
