As Second Harvest Heartland moves forward in Making Hunger History-our goal of cutting hunger in half for all Minnesotans by 2030-the volunteer engagement team is busy accomplishing goals to support this bold initiative.
I'd like to share one of the volunteer team's goals of increasing efficiencies throughout the team. We are creating a strong foundation to engage more volunteers and support our partners. Among the many ways to accomplish this, we will:
- Improve our online volunteer management system, Volunteer Central. While many of these improvements occur behind the scenes, you may have already experienced positive changes in using the system, such as an easier to navigate left-side menu, shorter volunteer survey for new volunteers, and streamlined list of volunteer activities or ways to engage.
- Review Volunteer Center processes to meet the increased demand for fresh produce, save on resources and maintain a positive experience for volunteers and staff.
- Complete the Service Enterprise Reaccreditation process, which will evaluate our program for effective volunteer engagement, confirming what we are doing well and highlight areas for improvement.
By taking time to look at our systems and processes, and identifying and improving areas of increased efficiency, we will create an improved experience for our valued volunteers like you!
