Volunteer Opportunity: FOODRx Patient Connect

Volunteer Volunteer Supervisor: Rebeccah DeLima, Senior Neighbor Services Health Care Advisor 


What You’ll Do 

We’re looking for a compassionate and motivated volunteer to support our award winning FOODRx program, which provides nutritious meals for patients who cannot afford to buy enough healthy food to meet their medical needs.  In this role, you’ll make meaningful phone connections with patients – screening and enrolling them into the program, checking in monthly to ensure they’re supported, and connecting them with additional resources when needed.  You’ll also help with data entry and administrative tasks that keep the program running smoothly.

What You Need 

  • A genuine interest in helping others 
  • A respectful and empathetic approach to patient interactions 
  • Willingness to learn about FOODRx eligibility requirements and program guidelines 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow HIPPA regulations 
  • Dependability and a strong sense of responsibility to follow through on commitments 
  • Comfort using a computer and phone to engage with participates from diverse backgrounds 

Physical Demands & Environment 

  • This is an office-based role involving phone and computer work 
  • Volunteers should be comfortable sitting for extended periods of time and using standard office equipment 
  • The office environment is open and collaborative, with a moderate level of background noise 

Schedule and Flexibility 

  • Weekly 3-hour shift for a minimum of 6 months 
  • Flexible scheduling is available on Tuesdays between 8:00 am and 4:30pm 
  • Volunteer Location: 7101 Winnetka Ave N, Brooklyn Park, MN 55428 

Training and Support 

  • We’ll provide onboarding to help you feel confident in your role  
  • You’ll be trained and supported by our Senior Neighbor Services Health Care Advisor 

Communication 

  • Most communication will take place via email 
  • Volunteers will receive regular updates and instructions from their volunteer supervisor
  • Open lines of communication for questions and feedback
