What You’ll Do 

As a Food Box Distribution Volunteer, you’ll be the first point of contact for our senior clients, helping distribute nutritious food through our Senior Hunger Program. You’ll support the team with all aspects of the distribution process—from preparing items for pickup to assisting neighbors with loading boxes into their vehicles. Your presence helps ensure a welcoming, organized, and efficient experience for everyone.   

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys connecting with people, staying active, and making a direct impact in the community.   

What You Need 

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and other volunteers 
  • Willingness to take initiative and adapt to changing needs 
  • Comfort with basic physical tasks like lifting and bending 
  • A mindset of listening, learning, and growth   

Physical Demands & Environment 

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds 
  • Standing and walking for the duration of the shift 
  • Bending, twisting, and reaching 
  • Working in a warehouse/distribution setting with cement flooring 
  • Exposure to varying noise levels and temperatures   

Schedule and Flexibility 

  • Frequency: Weekly 
  • Duration: 3-hour shift 
  • Commitment: At least 6 months 
  • Location: 7101 Winnetka Ave N, Brooklyn Park, MN 55428 
  • Available Shifts:  
    • Wednesdays 12pm - 3pm

Training and Support 

  • We’ll provide onboarding to help you feel confident in your role 
  • You’ll be trained and supported by your Volunteer Supervisor 
  • Additional training provided for warehouse support tasks as needed   

Communication 

  • Most communication outside your volunteer shift will take place via email 
  • Volunteers will receive regular updates and instructions from their volunteer supervisor 
  • Open lines of communication for questions and feedback
